Factions is team PvP built on land claims. Your faction's power decides how much land it can hold, and raiding rival bases with TNT cannons is the point of the whole mode. Strong factions plan their bases around cannon defence long before they build anything pretty.
Timing matters more here than anywhere else: joining at the start of a new map gives you a real chance. Check the raid rules, cannon limits, grace periods, faction size caps and what the store sells. Factions explained covers power, claims and raids.

How to choose factions servers

Join at the start of a map if you can. Late joiners face factions that already have walls, cannons and stacked gear.

Read the raid rules, including grace periods and whether cannons and TNT are allowed in every zone.

Check the faction size cap. Small caps keep the field open, large caps reward big organised groups.

Look at the store. Ranks with kits or spawners can tilt the balance before the first raid.

What does HCF mean in Minecraft?
HCF stands for Hardcore Factions. It is a factions variant with deathbans, so dying keeps you out for a while, and usually a map with a limited border, end of the world events and short seasons.
When is the best time to join a factions server?
At the start of a new map. Everyone begins with the same nothing, land is still free near spawn and nobody has cannons yet. Servers announce map resets on Discord, often a week ahead.
Can you play factions solo?
You can, but it is hard. A solo faction has little power, so its land is easy to overclaim and raid. Most solo players join an existing faction or play the economy side of the server.
