Install the server's modpack through a launcher such as CurseForge, Modrinth or ATLauncher, start Minecraft with that profile, then add the server address in Multiplayer.

Do you need the same mods as the server?

Yes, for content mods. Your client needs every mod that adds blocks, items or mobs, in the same versions. Client side mods like minimaps can usually be added on top.

Can Bedrock players join modded servers?

No. Java Edition mods do not run on Bedrock, so modded servers are for Java players only.
