Gens servers are a tycoon loop: place generators, sell what they produce, upgrade them and place more. Some run peacefully, others add PvP raids on rival players' generators. The appeal is watching numbers climb, so the pace of upgrades and how the server prevents inflation decide how long it stays fun.
Check the generator caps, whether you earn while offline, whether PvP is on and what the store sells. For how gens compares with skyblock and prison, read which grind fits you.
Right now 81 players are on the 2 gens servers that answer our pings, out of 6 listed. Over the last four weeks, the busiest hour was around 16:00 UTC. Measured at 23:37 UTC.

Questions
Questions about gens servers
What is a gens server in Minecraft?
A gens server is built around generators that produce items over time. You sell what they make, upgrade them and buy more, like an idle tycoon game inside Minecraft.
Do generators earn money while you are offline?
On some servers, yes, on others they only run while you are online or in the chunk. It is one of the first things to check.
What is the difference between gens and skyblock?
Skyblock is about building an island economy from scratch, gens hands you generators from the start and is about upgrading them as fast as possible.
