On hardcore servers death costs something real. It can be a timed deathban, a limited number of lives or being out until the next season, and that risk turns every cave and every fight into a decision. Players on hardcore servers tend to be careful, cooperative and very good at the game, because carelessness ends the session.
Check how long a deathban lasts, whether there is a lives or revive system, and how long a season runs before everyone starts again.
4 of the 5 listed hardcore servers are playable right now. Over the last four weeks, the busiest hour was around 17:00 UTC. Measured at 23:30 UTC.

How to choose hardcore servers
- 01
Check the deathban length, from minutes to the end of the season.
- 02
Look for a lives or revive system that gives you a second chance.
- 03
Ask how long a season runs.
- 04
Read the PvP rules, since dying to another player costs as much as dying to a creeper.
Questions

What happens when you die on a hardcore server?
It depends on the server. Most ban you for a set time, some take a life from a small pool, and on the strictest servers you are out until the next season.
What is a deathban?
A deathban is a temporary ban that starts when you die. It can last minutes, hours or until the world resets, and some servers shorten it for ranks.
