An SMP is a survival world that a group of players share for months. The features matter less than the people and the age of the world: a good SMP feels like a town that keeps growing while you are offline, with builds, trades and grudges that last.
Most SMPs are small, so look at how many players are on at the hours you actually play, how the world is protected from griefing, whether you need to apply first and whether the map ever resets. If the term is new to you, read what SMP means.
Right now 2,353 players are on the 60 SMP servers that answer our pings, out of 118 listed. Over the last four weeks, the busiest hour was around 15:00 UTC. Measured at 23:41 UTC.

How to choose SMP servers
- 01
Check the player count at your own hours, not the peak. A server with 15 players in your evening beats one with 200 at 3 am your time.
- 02
Ask how builds are protected. Land claims, rollbacks and trusted roles all work, no protection at all rarely does.
- 03
Find out whether the world resets, and how often. Months of progress in a world that never resets is the point of most SMPs.
- 04
Read the rules on PvP and stealing before you build anything valuable.
Questions
Questions about SMP servers
How do I find an SMP to join?
Start with the list on this page, which is ranked by real player votes and filtered to servers that answer our pings. Sort by players now to see which ones are busy, open a row to check its 48 hour player curve, and copy the address into Multiplayer.
Are there SMP servers I can join without applying?
Yes, most public SMPs let you join straight away. Whitelisted SMPs ask for an application first, usually on Discord, and they are marked with the whitelist tag. Use the More filter to hide or show them.
Can Bedrock players join SMP servers?
Many can. An SMP that runs Geyser publishes a Bedrock address and port, and our row shows it under the Java address. Filter by cross-play to see only SMPs that accept both editions.
How many SMP servers are online right now?
60 of the 118 SMP servers we list answered our last ping at 23:41 UTC with an open world. Together they had 2,353 players online. 69 of them were playable at least once in the last 7 days.
